In October 2019, key areas of central London were occupied by members of Extinction Rebellion, a radical environmentalist group professing non-violent civil disobedience to demand concrete action to fight climate change and environmental degradation. I covered the October Rebellion, organised in 60 cities around the world, from the UK capital, heart of the protest movement, producing London Rebelling, story of a capital fighting against extinction, a written reportage as well as a video together with filmmaker and photographer Lucca Messer, both published by sustainability news media LifeGate.
As well as documenting the protest, the reportage is based on in-depth interviews with three prominent members of Extinction Rebellion UK, ranging from a university student who stood for the 2019 European parliamentary elections to an ex-policeman turned environmental activist.
