In late 2019 I travelled to the Lower Omo Valley in southwestern Ethiopia, where dozens of tribes continue to live in contact with nature and far from modernity. Based on interviews with indigenous inhabitants, NGO and government representatives as well as tour operators, I produced The Omo Valley, where life flows with the river a written and video reportage in English and Italian on behalf of LifeGate: a first-hand account of the impacts of a mega-dam, climate change and tourism on the tribes’ ability to sustain themselves and maintain ancestral ways of life.
I did all the interviews and filming for the video, working with filmmaker Nicolò Piccione for the editing and post-production.
